Why have a garden design?

Our design process allows you to explore possibilities and ideas that you may never have considered. We help you to prioritise and focus these ideas and styles and create a clear plan. A detailed and well thought through design will ensure budgets are adhered to, avoid expensive mistakes and lingering regrets. It enables the project to be built all in one go or in stages. Besides, a well planned garden will be easy to use, look amazing and will be the envy of your friends and neighbours.

Here's how we do it...

A garden design in progress

Our Garden Design Process

1. Consulting

We always put our focus on our customers. We discuss your tastes, preferences, needs and desires. At this stage we will find out about you, your family, pets, likes and dislikes.

To ensure your garden functions well we find out about your needs for storage, parking spaces, garden buildings, access etc. and for full decorative effect, your favourite colours, materials, cultures, places etc. are reviewed which ensures your new garden is perfect for you.

We provide advice and guidance to maximise the potential of your garden. Our consultation is extremely comprehensive and ensures every solution is found and every possibility explored.

2. Garden survey and analysis

At this stage we will measure the boundaries, levels and existing features within your garden. We use this data to draw your garden to scale which we use as the basis for planning the spaces, access and features.

We also record all garden features and its surroundings. Orientation, areas of sun and shade, soil type, features to enhance or hide are all considered to inform feasibility, positioning, types and sizes of features and plants within the design.

3. sketches and outline ideas

Using the consultation, survey and analysis data, we consider what does and doesn't work and prioritise the potential features and styles to generate ideas. These ideas are sketched out as plans, elevations or 3D drawings.

We will create a minimum of 3 overall plans with supporting drawings to convey our ideas. These are discussed with you the customer, who can then choose which one they prefer, or we can combine areas or features to create a final plan.

4. Master plan

The master plan is the finished version of our combined ideas. It specifies the overall shapes, styles, colours, features and materials to be used within the garden. Additional drawings may be supplied where required, to specify construction details or to show particular views.

The master plan provides a general overview of the plant types and planting styles. The planting plan and specification will provide full detail of the plants.

5. Planting plan and specification

Our planting plans consider each and every detail of the site, location and specific customer preferences. We detail every plant, how many and their exact location.

To support budgeting and installation a plant list is created which specifies the exact species or variety, the size of plant to be purchased and how many.

6. Quotes and installation

Once the plans are complete, the installation phase can begin. Our flexible approach allows you to decide how you wish to progress. Some of our customers complete some or all of the work themselves. We can help by supplying plants at discounted prices. However, If you prefer, we can help you to gain quotes from our trusted construction experts or we can quote for the work ourselves.

Our speciality is plants. Our quotes for planting include all soil improvement, supply, planting and professional finishing. You'll find that our quotes are extremely competitive.
